Sovereign Markdown Vault

Your intellectual assets remain strictly on your machine. Zero cloud uploads, zero latency, absolute privacy.

The Sovereign Markdown Vault lets you mount local folders and note collections (such as Obsidian vaults or project directories) directly into the Brainstorm Reactor. Instead of uploading entire archives to remote servers, documents are indexed locally inside your browser and loaded into the active workspace on demand.

1. Connecting a Local Folder

You can mount any local folder from your hard drive into the workspace:

Browser EngineIntegration MethodCapabilities
Chromium (Chrome, Edge, Brave)File System Access APIDirect persistent SSD access with live local updates.
WebKit (Safari on macOS & iOS)Drag-and-Drop & Folder PickerRecursive folder traversal with in-memory caching and 1-click ZIP export.

Quick Triggers

You can open the vault explorer through three discovery surfaces:

  • Left Sidebar: Click [Open Local Folder] in the Documents & Transfer section (1st position).
  • Slash Command: Type /vault (or /folder, /docs) in the prompt input field.
  • Universal Command Palette: Press ⌘K (or Ctrl+K) and select Sovereign MD Vault.

2. Converting Documents to Markdown

If your notes are stored in proprietary formats rather than Markdown, the system converts them 100% inside your browser:

  • Word Documents (.docx): Transpiles headings, lists, and formatted tables directly into standard Markdown.
  • PDF Documents (.pdf): Extracts clean text and reconstructs heading hierarchies through font-size analysis without external OCR services.
  • Spreadsheets & Data (.csv): Converts tabular datasets into clean GitHub Flavored Markdown (GFM) tables.
  • Clipboard Formatted Text (HTML): Strips proprietary Microsoft Office and Google Docs styling, leaving clean, paste-ready Markdown.

[!NOTE] Zero-Compute Guarantee: All document transpilation executes in client-side Web Workers. Confidential files never touch Reactor backend servers or external AI model providers during conversion.

3. Creating an Autonomous Project Overview

When dealing with large folders containing multiple interrelated documents, click [Create Project Overview] in the vault toolbar.

The generator compiles a dedicated PROJECT_HUB.md file at the root of your vault:

  1. Document Registry: Catalogs all notes with word counts and token estimates.
  2. Heading Trees: Outlines structural sections (H1 to H3) for rapid scanning.
  3. Wikilink Network: Indexes bidirectional links (`[[document]]`) compatible with Obsidian and Cursor.
  4. Context Hub: Serves as a single entry point when staging large research projects into the Reactor.

4. Staging Documents into the Workspace

Once your folder is connected:

  1. Search & Filter: Use the instant search bar to find notes by filename or frontmatter topics.
  2. Select Notes: Click individual notes or hold Shift to select contiguous ranges.
  3. Review Token HUD: Check cumulative token estimates at the bottom to stay within model context bounds.
  4. Load into Workspace: Click [Load into Workspace Context] to attach the selected notes to your active session.
  5. Context Ribbon & Toolbar Pill: Active notes are displayed in the ultra-slim Vault Context Ribbon directly above the prompt textarea, showing directory name, active note count, and token estimates (📁 <vault> · 7 of 17 notes active (~18k Tokens)). You can adjust selection or clear context with 1 click. Manual file attachments (images, PDFs) remain cleanly separated in the paperclip button.
